Growing numbers of people are moving to Wales in a bid to own their own homes, after being driven out of the Bristol housing market.

More than a thousand people moved over the Severn Bridges in the year to June 2015, switching expensive city prices for larger properties with lower price tags.

A Recent Buyer, who works in Bristol, says moving to Newport is the best financial decision he’s ever made. He paid £243,000 for a four-bed detached house, and says the extra miles he drives are well worth it.

The average property price in Bristol is £292,468, with one of the fastest growth rates anywhere in Britain. Meanwhile in Newport, the average is £161,771.

And property experts predict the numbers moving to Wales will soar further when tolls on the Severn crossings are cut next year.
